Publishing that works for everyone.
Get your book into the world in print, ebook and audio. We'll help you every step of the way, on your terms.
Most finished manuscripts stall at publishing: ISBNs, files, covers, contracts and a language nobody explains. We take all of it off your desk and put the book where your clients will find it.
Three routes.
Self-publish with us beside you
You stay the publisher and keep all rights and all royalties. We set you up with your own ISBNs and imprint, prepare the print and ebook files, design the cover, write the description and list the book with online stores, bookshops and libraries worldwide
Find a publisher
For books that suit a traditional or independent press. We help you write the proposal, find the presses that fit your book and approach them. We'll also be straight with you about how long it can take
Publish with Authorship Press
From 2027 our own imprint will publish a small number of books each year. We take care of everything from the ISBN to the launch, under a name bookshops and buyers learn to trust. Terms are set out in a plain author agreement before anything is signed
Print, ebook and audio.
Print on demand
Each copy is printed when someone orders it, so there's no stock to store and no unsold boxes, in paperback and hardback
Short print runs
For launches, events, signed copies and limited editions
Ebook
For Kindle and the other major ebook stores
Audiobook
In your own voice or a narrator's. How we make it
Everywhere books are sold.
We publish through Amazon KDP, which puts your book on Amazon in every major market, and IngramSpark, which supplies more than 40,000 bookshops, libraries and online retailers worldwide.
We're also building a vetted list of partner presses, wholesalers and bookshops around the world. Alongside retail, we produce limited editions and corporate gift orders, so your book earns in more places than the shop shelf.
40,000+
bookshops, libraries and online retailers your book can reach
Words you'll hear.
ISBN
The unique number that identifies your book in every shop and library catalogue. Each format needs its own
Imprint
The publisher name printed on the spine and listed with the book
Book proposal
What a publisher asks to see before they take a book on: the idea, the reader, a chapter outline, a sample chapter and why you're the one to write it
Print on demand
Printing each copy as it's ordered, in place of printing thousands up front

Where we're heading.
Our aim is to become a full independent publisher: a growing list of books, our own relationships with presses, wholesalers and bookshops, and a name people trust for books made from lived experience.
The Wild Seam, Alex's debut poetry collection, is planned as one of our first titles. We're publishing it the way we'll publish yours.
